The Travelling Talesman
I greet you, village people
I have come from far away
This guitar is all I own
And my stories are my trade
I have travelled far and lonely
On a thousand dusty roads
I need to rest my aching feet
And so I’ve come to your abode
So if you’ve got a bed for me and a pint of ale
I’ll bring to you my tale
I have songs of far off places
I’ve seen many foreign things
I speak the tongue of faeries
And I’ve dined with lords and kings
I can tell a million stories
Tales beyond your wildest dreams
Songs of war and love and magic
And where nothing’s as it seems
Gather round, forget your worries
Raise your glass with me tonight
I have many tales to tell you
And I’ll leave at dawning light
So tell me, what’s your story?
There is always something new
In the next town I might tell them
Stories about you
About dragon slaying heroes
And forbidden lovers
About ever-wandering spirits
Demons, thieves and robbers
About magic wands and witchcraft
Castles and crusades
Poison, lies and murder
And secret hidden caves
So if you’ve got a bed for me and a pint of ale
I’ll sing to you my tale
